Overview
Tamiflu is a drug used to treat certain viruses. It can treat Influenza A and Influenza B, and it's currently the major drug used to control the outbreak of Swine Flu.
Instructions
The medicine is meant to protect individuals from Influenza A and Influenza B. It's designed for people over one year old. The standard dosage for adults is 75mg a day for about five days, and it's important to start at most two days after the first symptoms of the disease have been spotted.
Children should take decreased dosages, as should patients with renal impairment. The drug may be dispensed during community outbreaks to help protect individual community members from spreading the disease, or individually, after contact with an infected individual.
Early treatment
It's important that treatment is applied as soon as possible, as the drug is most effective if used within the first 48 hours of the infection. After this time has passed, the drug will have had enough time to multiply into enough cells to make the effects of the drug weaker and borderline useless.
Side effects
You may experience certain side effects when using this medication. They should normally go away quickly, but if you experience any of them for prolonged periods of time, consult a doctor. Those effects include: nausea, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and pain in the abdominal area.
